Dear TKO Members:
On March 31, 2020, US Youth Soccer announced a further delay on returning to play through April 30, 2020. In addition, US Youth Soccer announced its decision to cancel the Midwest Regional Championships and the US Youth Soccer National Championships (click here for more info).
After much consideration, the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) has made the difficult decision to cancel our State Cup and Junior State Cup tournaments. In addition, MSYSA is suspending all of our soccer activities*, all MSYSA sanctioned tournaments, and all MSYSA affiliated activities through April 30, 2020. ‘MSYSA affiliated activities’ includes scheduled games, team practice/training sessions, or sponsored activities that are under the direct supervision of a team official; or sanctioned local or national tournaments as a member of a contestant team (e.g., any activity that MSYSA sanctions and insures).
MSYSA will reevaluate the return-to-play date based on decisions and/or recommendations anticipated from the State of Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, CDC, and our governing bodies. We are also seeking input from league and club representatives on calls scheduled for Friday, April 3, 2020. You may participate on one or both calls, if desired. If you did not receive an email communication from us about the telephone conference calls, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: These calls are limited to League Presidents/Administrators & Club Representatives only. In the interim, please review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), which have been updated as of April 1, 2020.
We recognize that many players and team officials are anxious to get back on the soccer field. Our priority continues to be the safety and well-being of our players, team officials, and referees. We will only return to play when it is deemed safe to return. At some point, soccer will resume and when it does, we hope to celebrate the return to soccer with all of you.
Thank you for your continued support. We encourage all of you to continue reviewing our website, email communications, and social media platforms for updates.
